Exchange Betting Guide: Setup and Key Features

Getting started with Betfair is straightforward once you know the steps — this guide walks you through each one. The platform offers a unique betting exchange where you can back or lay outcomes, often at better odds than traditional bookmakers. Whether you are new to exchange betting or looking to use an Australia-specific promo code, this guide covers everything from account creation to platform highlights.

Getting Ready

  • A device with a modern browser or a mobile-optimized website (progressive web app) — no app download needed.
  • A stable internet connection for live betting and market updates.
  • Valid government-issued ID for identity verification (passport or driver’s license).
  • A payment method such as a debit/credit card, e‑wallet, or bank transfer.
  • Basic understanding of exchange betting (backing and laying) to maximize the platform’s features.

Account Setup

  2. Verify your email address by clicking the link sent to your inbox. This activates your account.
  3. Complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process by uploading a clear photo of your ID and a proof of address (utility bill or bank statement). Verification usually takes a few hours.
  4. Log in using your credentials. The exchange login process is secure and supports two-factor authentication (2FA) for added protection.
